Medical Scribing is the documentation of real time conversation between a healthcare professional or a doctor and a patient. These information are stored electronically in EHRs.
The scribe’s role is to capture the patient encounter accurately, completely, and in a timely manner, including documentation in the patient’s electronic medical record. Medical scribes are responsible for assisting physicians in entering information into the medical record, such as patient history, medications, allergies and physical exams. They may also be responsible for scheduling follow-up appointments, ordering tests, and other administrative tasks.
